Faber to publish Ian Curtis collection

Faber is to publish a book of lyrics and notebooks from Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis.

So This Is Permanence: Lyrics and Notebooks will be edited by Jon Savage, with a foreword written by Curtis' widow Deborah Curtis. Facsimile pages of the singer's notebooks will appear in the book alongside the lyrics for such songs as Love Will Tear Us Apart and Atmosphere.

Curtis, who grew up in Macclesfield, suffered from depression, epilepsy and debilitating stage fright, and only released two albums with band Joy Division before he committed suicide in 1980, on the eve of the group's first American tour.

Lee Brackstone, creative director of Faber Social, signed world rights from Tibor Jones Associates. So This Is Permanence will be published in spring 2014.
