Faber's Lee Brackstone has bought a study of glam rock by music critic Simon Reynolds.
Shock and Awe will chart the history and legacy of the phenomenon, showing how artists like David Bowie, Alice Cooper, T Rex and Roxy Music, "prophesized the pop cultural landscape we find ourselves in today."
Brackstone acquired the book on proposal from Tony Peake of Peake Associates, with US rights going to Denise Oswald at HarperCollins imprint It Books.
Reynolds is also the author of Rip It Up and Start Again, about postpunk, and Retromania, on the nostalgia industry (both for Faber).
