Faber and Walker Books are teaming up to develop illustrated titles from Faber's backlist. The Iron Man by Ted Hughes is to be the first book in this venture and will be illustrated by Laura Carlin. The books produced will all be co-branded and both publishers will share content and information.
Stephen Page, chief executive of Faber, said he was "pleased" with the collaboration. "As another independent publisher with an unswerving devotion to publishing quality work they are a natural partner for Faber. To launch this new relationship with a text as central to Faber’s history as The Iron Man is tremendously exciting."
Helen McAleer, managing director of Walker, said that this relationship offered "the unique opportunity to combine an extraordinary list of classics with award-winning illustrators and design skills".
Bothindependent publishers will be appearing together at Bologna Book Fair, with Walker hosting the Faber children's team on its stand.
