Faber and Profile Books have acquired a second book by Francesca Simon, author of the Horrid Henry series, ahead of Bologna Children's Book Fair which begins on 28th March.
Profile m.d. Andrew Franklin and Faber chief executive Stephen Page jointly bought world rights to the as-yet-untitled book through Rosemary Sandberg at Rosemary Sandberg Agents.
The Sleeping Army, the first Simon title signed in a joint deal with Faber and Profile, is published on 20th October, with world rights available at Bologna. It features Freya, a girl living in a modern Britain where people still worship Viking gods.
Franklin said: "We are delighted to be following The Sleeping Army with a new book in what is certain to be one of the most exciting, imaginative and important children's series."
Page added: "It has been so exciting and pleasurable working with Francesca on The Sleeping Army so it's thrilling to know that we can repeat it and build on the great success we are already enjoying".
