Faber & Faber is to reprint 25,000 copies of Eimear McBride’s Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction winner, A Girl is a Half-Formed Thing.
The publisher will also launch a consumer campaign, starting with broadsheet newspaper advertising this weekend, which will then “run into a large-scale outdoor poster campaign”. Faber will also run paid promotions on Twitter and Facebook.
McBride has a “packed” PR schedule following the win, said the publisher, including interviews with national broadsheet newspapers and various BBC outlets.
A Girl is a Half-Formed Thing will also feature in the Elle Bookclub, run in conjunction with the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction, in August.
The book was originally published by Galley Beggar Press in June last year, with Faber acquiring UK, exclusive Europe and Commonwealth rights, minus Canada, Australia and New Zealand, in the mass market paperback and e-book editions of the book in March this year. Faber has said it has so far sold 15,000 copies of the book. Nielsen BookScan has recorded sales of 6,494 copies through Nielsen Bookscan across two editions.
