Egmont Press has acquired a children's fantasy series from bestselling novelists Garth Nix and Sean Williams.
Stella Paskins, Egmont Press publisher, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Australia and New Zealand) for the Troubletwisters series from Antony Harwood of Antony Harwood Limited on behalf of Jill Grinberg Literary Management (JGLM) in New York.
Troubletwisters is the first collaboration between Nix, the author of The Seventh Tower and The Keys to the Kingdom series, and Sean Williams, author of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, among others. The series tells the story of twins Jaide and Jack Shield who move from the city to a coastal town to live with their eccentric grandmother, where they are drawn into a struggle against an ancient entity known as The Evil.
Nix, who will continue his publishing relationship with HarperCollins, said: "Sean and I are old friends and we have been talking about co-writing something for years, so it's great we've finally got our double act together." Williams added, "That we've never really grown up is what makes these stories so much fun, for children of all ages."
Egmont Press m.d. Cally Poplak said: "Egmont Press is all about turning children into passionate readers, so we're delighted to welcome Garth and Sean to the list with a story we're sure will do just that. This is an exciting addition to our growing YA list."
The first of five planned books in the series, Troubletwisters: The Beginning, will be published in 2011.
