Cassell Illustrated will publish a book with UK singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran and his childhood artist friend Phillip Butah this autumn.
The book will be called Ed Sheeran: A Visual Journey and will contain artwork and photos of Sheeran by his childhood friend Philip Butah, who has also produced the artwork for Sheeran’s albums and singles.
Hannah Knowles, commissioning editor at Cassell Illustrated, part of the Octopus Publishing Group, acquired worldwide publishing rights from Stuart Camp at Rocket Music Management.
The publisher said the book will be “a stunning and original visual documentary of one of the most successful musicians of his generation” and will “reveal what drives and influences Sheeran, his experiences recording and touring, and how he continues to evolve as a musician while coping with such stratospheric success.”
The book will be published this autumn but there is no firm date for the release yet.
Double BRIT award-winner Sheeran said he was “thrilled” to be collaborating with his childhood friend on the title. “We’ve pulled together photos and Phillip’s artwork from the very beginning right up to today and the book will be my words on the stories behind the pictures," he said.
Butah added: "I love working with Ed – it's a real privilege – and I'm really excited to be collaborating with him on such an exciting project: his music, talent and achievements inspire me."
Sheeran won two BRIT Awards for Best British Male and British Breakthrough in 2012, has made a guest appearance on US singer Taylor Swift's fourth album, Red, and has written songs for UK boy band One Direction.
Butah is the youngest ever artist to win the Prince of Wales Young Artists’ Award, and studied at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design.
