Ebury wins Clough
19.05.08 | John Ryan
In a "solid five-figure" deal, Andrew Goodfellow, publishing director at Ebury, has bought world rights in Clough’s War, a book by Don Shaw detailing the rise and fall of high-profile football manager Brian Clough at Derby County during the 1970s.
Shaw ran the campaign to retain Clough’s services at Derby, becoming embroiled in the acrimony that surrounded the episode as a result. He later went on to become an award-winning screen writer.
Goodfellow said: “Clough has become the footballing equivalent of a Napoleon or a Churchill, an inspiring, frustrating figure of endless fascination.”
The deal was brokered by Gordon Wise at Curtis Brown and Clough’s War is set to appear in May next year.
