Ebury Press has bought the rights to fashion guru Gok Wan's "revealing, entertaining and above all inspirational" autobiography. Senior commissioning editor Charlotte Cole acquired world rights from Carol Hayes Management for an undisclosed sum.
The book is yet to be titled, but is due to be published in September as a £18.99 hardback. Wan is best known for his TV shows, 'How to Look Good Naked', 'Gok's Fashion Fix' and 'Miss Naked Beauty'. He has also recently started as a regular presenter on 'The TV Book Club'.
The title will tell of how Wan was bullied at school and on the housing estate where he grew up. At the age of 20 he decided to reinvent himself and lost ten stone in nine months.
Wan said he was "thrilled" to be working with Ebury. He added: "There’s a lot to tell, some of it still painful, but I think it will be all worth it and prove a revealing, entertaining and above all inspirational read."
Cole said: "Gok is loved by women for making us feel fantastic about ourselves, and where he got that gift from is an inspirational story in itself. Told with his trademark warmth and wit, his story will be the must read for women this Christmas."
