The first UK book on e-sports, “one of the world’s fastest-growing entertainment industries” will be published by Century in October.
Ben Brusey, editorial director at Century, an imprint of Penguin Random House, bought world rights from Darren Newnham, head of business development for Fnatic, for How to be a Professional Gamer, set for publication as a trade paperback and e-book on 6th October 2016.
Fnatic is a professional gaming team which competes in the most popular video games such as League of Legends, Dota 2, Battlefield 4, and more. Its players attend more than 75 international events per year and the team went an entire season undefeated last year.
In the book, the Fnatic team take regular gamers inside the elite world of the sport, sharing tips on strategy, teamwork, mental strength and dexterity. The book is an essential guide for how regular gamers can improve at League of Legends, the world’s most popular game, as well as offering fans a glimpse into life as a professional gamer, from playing in front of sold-out arenas, to living and sleeping the sport.
