A & C Black and Waterstone's are joining up to offer a free duck house to promote The Little Book of Big Expenses: How to Live the MP Lifestyle (published this week, h/b, £6.99).
The book provides an exposé of expenses scams and scandals from around the world in the wake of the recent controversies, including a quiz on matching the claim to the political party, and instructions on how to employ members of your family.
Stickers on the books will encourage readers to enter an online competition at http://www.waterstones.com/bigexpenses" target="_blank" title="www.waterstones.com/bigexpenses">www.waterstones.com/bigexpenses">www.waterstones.com/bigexpenses. The "charming" duck house is apparently "large enough for six ducks". The chain's entertainment buyer Joe Browes said: "This is the morally acceptable route to a free duck house", promising the book would be "one of the humour hits of 2009".
