HRH The Duchess of Cornwall has agreed to be a patron of BookTrust for another five years, the charity announced today (14th July).
BookTrust C.e.o Diana Gerald said: “It is a great honour for BookTrust that Her Royal Highness has chosen to continue as our patron. Her support is invaluable in our quest to inspire a love of reading in children. We know that reading as a child can transform lives and is a prime indicator of later achievement and well-being.
“We are committed to starting children on their reading journey and supporting them throughout, and it’s a huge delight to know that Her Royal Highness is helping us to do so."
The Duchess of Cornwall took over the role from HRH The Duke of Edinburgh in 2011.
She is also patron of Roald Dahl 100, the centenary celebrations marking 100 years since Dahl’s birth, and was a judge on Radio 2’s www.thebookseller.com/news/duchess-cornwall-judge-r2s-500-words-320397">500 Words competition this year.
