Digital shelf Bookshout! launches
10.10.12 | Lisa Campbell
A new digital library shelf has launched at Frankfurt Book Fair which allows users to import both Nook and Kindle books.
US-based company BookShout! says it has all the major publishers signed up to its business apart from Penguin and Simon & Schuster.
“We believe the future of books is about you, the reader. And also about content creators, the authors and the publishers," the company said. "To that end, we are the first platform to allow you to import your Amazon and Barnes & Noble books into one universal bookshelf."
BookShout! offers publishers the opportunity to “have transparency” as well as access to data, analytics and metrics on their e-books. Readers can import titles they have purchased from both Amazon and Barnes & Noble, in theory being able to swap from using a Kindle to a Nook e-reader without losing their content. They can also share books with friends on the site.
“Once inside of BookShout!, readers and authors can unlock social sharing and discovery like never before,” the company said.
