Desirable pre-empt to Orion
17.02.12 | Charlotte Williams
Weidenfeld & Nicolson and Orion have acquired My List of Desires, pre-empting the novel in the UK. It was the subject of hard-fought auctions in Germany, Italy and Spain, and topped the French Amazon overall chart within a week of going on sale.
Publishing director Kirsty Dunseath bought world English language rights in the title by Gregoire Delacourt from J C Lattes in France. It will be published in June 2013 as a £12.99 hardback and as an e-book.
The book tells the story of Jocelyne, a haberdasher in a small town near Calais, who had dreamt of being a stylist in Paris. When she wins €18.5m through the EuroMillons lottery, she begins to question what she would really like to change about her life.
