World rights to Death, Destruction and a Packet of Peanuts by Chris Pascoe have been bought by Tom Bromley at Portico. This was one of the last acquisitions made by Bromley before he left parent group Anova Books. He bought the world rights from Eve White at the Eve White Literary Agency and Portico will publish in Spring 2009.
Death and Destruction is the true story of Chris Pascoe’s year long quest to visit all the major battlefields of the English Civil War, and, particularly, all the major battlefield pubs.
White said: "In Death, Destruction and a Packet of Peanuts, he tells the story of one of England’s most momentous and turbulent periods in a light-hearted, funny way, but the history is grippingly readable.”
Other books by Chris Pascoe include A Cat Called Birmingham and You Can Take the Cat out of Slough (Hodder UK).
