C&R basks in Benidorm

Constable & Robinson has acquired a series tie-in to ITV comedy hit, "Benidorm", penned by Derren Litten, the programme's creator and writer.

Constable publishing director Andreas Campomar signed the deal for UK and Commonwealth rights from Vivienne Clore at Richard Stone Partnership.

"Benidorm" won the most popular comedy programme award at the National Television Awards in 2008 and 2011. It is set in Spain at the Solana, an all-inclusive hotel complex, and has recently been recomissioned for a fifth series.

The book, The Benidorm Guide to a Happy Holiday, will include tips from the programme's different characters on how to make the most of your sunshine break. It will include tips on tanning from sharp-tongued Madge; a guide to holiday romance from lothario and hotel staff member Mateo; and advice on how to make your holiday "swing" from sexually adventurous couple Donald and Jacqueline Stewart.

Campomar said: "I am thrilled to be publishing Derren's book. He really is one of the sharpest and funniest writers writing for television at the moment. I am a huge ‘Benidorm' fan."

Constable will publish on 6th October, as a £14.99 hardback.
