Penguin has revealed the cover for Sally Green's YA debut Half Bad, acquired by editorial director Ben Horslen at this year's Bologna Children's Book Fair.
The novel, a supernatural thriller set in a modern world inhabited by covert witches, is described as having "exceptional commercial appeal" and was sold by Penguin into 25 languages within 13 weeks of its acquisition.
It will be published in the UK in March next year.
Film rights have been acquired by Fox 2000, with "Twilight" producer Karen Rosenfelt attached to the project.
Penguin Children's publicity director Adele Minchin said: "The cover we have gone for is a simple, sophisticated one that will appeal to both the YA and crossover adult audience we believe this series has the potential to reach, and one that reflects the dark intrigue of the series."
