CourseSmart is expanding its international platform into Middle East and Africa.
The move means the e-textbook platform is now available in 70 countries. At the same time, the company is offering students a free trial to encourage students to use the service.
CourseSmart is backed by five academic publishers, Cengage Learning, Pearson, Wiley, Palgrave Macmillan and McGraw Hill and launched in the UK in March this year. It has teamed up with academic bookseller Blackwell’s to offer students e-textbook rental and earlier this month announced it had signed eight more publishers, Sage, Taylor & Francis, Edinburgh University Press, Jessica Kingsley, Gill & Macmillan, CAB International, Goodfellow Publishing and W W Norton.
Fionnuala Duggan, managing director of CourseSmart International, said: “CourseSmart’s expansion into new territories reflects the international demand for the e-textbook platform that we have experienced. It will provide instructors in all the participating countries with full access to the digital samples, and our institutional and student ecommerce offering will also be available.”
