Coronet hails Ryan with campaign fit for a king
17.06.10 | Victoria Gallagher
Hodder imprint Coronet is giving Chris Ryan an “epic” publicity and marketing campaign for his first title with the publisher.
Ryan was previously published by Century, and The Kill Zone, due out in September, will be his first book published by Coronet.
Coronet publisher Mark Booth said: “I’ve edited him since the beginning . . . I’m absolutely delighted that he has come to the launch list of Coronet. He is the king of the Coronet list.”
Booth said the marketing campaign would be Ryan’s “most epic” and is hopeful it will be the authors “biggest novel so far”.
The publisher will attempt to target men aged 25–44 with TV advertising and bus supersides. Booth said Ryan’s profile has never been higher due to his novel Strike Back recently being made into a six-part drama series for Sky.
Ryan will also be embarking on a nationwide tour on publication in September, visiting bookshops for signings and talks, and will be doing a range of interviews across the national print and broadcast media.
“He has delivered his biggest book yet in several senses,” said Booth. “It’s an epic story, it’s rather longer than his other novels, and it’s epic in scope.”
The book tells of SAS legend Jack Harker, surveillance operative Siobhan Byrne, and a plot to reconstruct the Taliban’s killing zone in London.
Coronet has gone for a “dramatic” red and black cover for the book. “We’re putting an exciting new package on it, which is more epic in look and has more of an international thriller look,” said Booth.
The title will be published on 16th September as an £18.99 hardback.
