Cornerstone has acquired a new novel by Caitlin Davies.
Stephanie Sweeney at Cornerstone has bought UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) from Clare Alexander at Aitken Alexander Associates.
The Ghost of Lily Painter will be published by Hutchinson in June 2011 and in Windmill paperback the following year. The title tells the story of Annie Sweet who moves into a house in North London and becomes obsessed with its past inhabitants.
Sweeney said: "Anyone with an interest in where they live will want to read this novel. Annie’s obsessive quest leads the reader to a dark and compelling time in London’s history. Secrets are uncovered at every turn, and the overall effect is very powerful. Caitlin is a wonderful writer."
Davies has previously written both fiction and non-fiction and has been published by Penguin and Simon & Schuster.
Her parents are also authors, both of which have been published by Random House. Her mother, Margaret Forster, is the Chatto & Windus author whose latest novel Isa and May was published in February. Her father, Hunter Davies, has recently published Behind the Scenes at the Museum of Baked Beans with Ebury.
