Colgan wins Melissa Nathan Award
13.06.12 | Katie Allen
Jenny Colgan has won the “coolest award in women’s commercial fiction” for her novel Meet Me At The Cupcake Café.
She took home the Melissa Nathan Award for Comedy Romance, now in its sixth year, last night (12th June), for the Little, Brown novel about a young woman who is made redundant from her City job and decides to start a café.
Colgan said: “I am so so thrilled to win a Melissa Nathan Award I can't say, it's the coolest award in women's commercial fiction and I'm absolutely over the moon, especially in such a strong year—thank you so much to the judges, and to all the readers out there who love funny books as much as we do."
The other shortlisted novels were: An Autumn Crush by Milly Johnson; Girl on the Run by Jane Costello (both Simon and Schuster); Summer Loving by Allie Spencer (Arrow/Random); You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me by Sarra Manning (Transworld); and Please Don’t Stop The Music by Jane Lovering (Choc Lit).
