Clare Somerville has joined Hachette Children's Books as deputy managing director, with responsibility for Group Sales, Rights and Marketing.
She was recently Harlequin UK Ltd general manager India, UK & Export Sales.
Somerville, who previously worked as sales and marketing director at HCB, was appointed by m.d. Marlene Johnson, who said: "I am thrilled to be working with Clare again. She brings with her a wealth of experience in licensing, digital and brand development which will prove invaluable to the next stage of our development.”
Somerville said: "Having been out of the children’s book world for seven years I am delighted at the prospect of returning to Hachette and working in such a vibrant creative environment.
