The chief executive of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals Bob McKee died this weekend. McKee, who was due to retire from his role on 31st October, passed away in Gothenburg, Sweden, while attending the International Federation of Library Associations Congress. Today would have been his 60th birthday.
"CILIP trustees, the Presidential team and staff join together in sending their deepest condolences to Bob's family at this traumatic time," a CILIP statement said.
McKee was previously chief executive of The Library Association and oversaw the launch of CILIP, created in 2002 from the unification of the Library Association and the Institute of Information Scientists.
