Nicolas Cheetham has quit his post at Quercus in order to spearhead a new imprint at Atlantic Books; Corvus will develop Atlantic's genre fiction publishing. Cheetham, who was previously editorial director at Quercus, takes up the job of publishing director on 2nd February and will report to Atlantic publisher and c.e.o. Toby Mundy.
Mundy said Cheetham had a "fantastic publishing brain and has everything it takes to become a leading light in our industry".
Cheetham will focus in particular on crime, thrillers and speculative fiction, building a list of around 15 books per year. He will also produce a select list of illustrated books. Cheetham said: "I am thrilled to be joining Atlantic Books. To be invited to build a new list for such a creative and dynamic company is a rare and irresistible opportunity."
Mundy added: "His expertise, experience and enthusiasm will add in a multitude of ways to what we do. I'm very excited that he will be developing this new dimension of our business."
The first Corvus titles will appear in autumn 2009.
