Century editor Tim Andrews has bought the autobiography of darts player Eric Bristow. Andrews acquired world rights from Jonathan Harris of Luxton Harris and will publish just before Christmas on December 18th.
The Crafty Cockney is to tell the story of Bristow's rise from the back streets of London's East End to national fame as a five-times World Championship and five-times World Masters winner. Century said the book would also feature "run-ins with booze and the law", Bristow's struggle to overcome the yips, which prevented him from throwing a dart properly, and the player's stormy personal relationships.
Bristow will "heavily promote" the book between World Dart Championships from 4th–17th January 2009. Andrews said: "Bristow has a common touch and is a true man of the people. We are confident his autobiography will be one of the sporting successes of the year."
An Arrow paperback will follow in January 2010.
