Canongate has signed a new title in the Simon's Cat series, tying in to a forthcoming crowd-funded Simon's Cat film.
Simon's Cat, a series on online cartoons created by Simon Tofield, launched a crowd-funding campaign on indiegogo on 8th July to raise money for it's first extended-length colour animated film, Off to the Vet. It successfully raised £311,084, more than its goal of £275,850.
Senior editor Jenny Lord signed world rights to the tie-in title, Simon's Cat: Off to the Vet, from Robert Kirby at United Agents. A hardback edition priced at £14.99 will be published, while a collector's edition, given as a "perk" for donating to the campaign, will be published by Canongate in autumn next year.
Lord said: "We’ve been glued to our screens over the last few weeks, watching Simon’s Cat fans from across the globe joining forces to help the team creep towards their target. It’s been thrilling to see the excitement building for this new animation and the forthcoming book, the first ever to be published alongside a tie-in animation."
