"Brutally honest" Bacon title for Century
22.02.12 | Charlotte Williams
Century has acquired a first book by radio and TV presenter Richard Bacon, to be a collection of anecdotes about the highs and lows of his life.
Publishing director Ben Dunn and assistant editor Briony Gowlett bought world rights from Juliet Mushens at PFD, with plans to publish the as-yet-untitled book as a trade paperback in August 2012, with plans for an Arrow paperback edition in spring 2013.
Dunn said: "We are delighted to be publishing Richard's first book. His writing is full of wit, energy and brutal honesty and his stories really are a must-read for anyone who wants a good chortle."
Bacon began his career on programmes including "Blue Peter", from which he was fired in 1998, as well as "The Big Breakfast" and "Top of the Pops". He currently presents a weekday Radio 5 Live show and 6 Music on Saturday, as well as his own chatshow on ITV and BBC3's "Young People Question time".
