Browns launches e-book platform

Book supplier Browns Books for Students is to launch an e-book platform especially for schools and colleges from summer 2012.

The tool – called VLeBooks - will combine Browns existing physical books services in what the company has called an “unrivalled” access to digital textbooks for pupils in mainstream education.

VLeBooks will allow pupils to read Browns textbooks from their mobile phones, computers and e-readers without additional software.

Browns told teachers and librarians: “Whether for teaching, home study or reading for pleasure, VLeBooks will provide an unrivalled level of access to your ebook catalogue. Empower your students by giving them access to the texts they need and love and let them tell you which they’d love to read.”

The e-books will be tailored towards the UK educational market, with texts from UK and European publishers.
