The Bright Agency is re-launching itself at Bologna Book Fair, focusing solely on the publishing industry and aiming to provide publishers with new illustrators via its website.
Bright Group managing director, Vicki Willden-Lebrecht said: "By allowing The Bright Agency to get back to its publishing roots, we are able to offer our undivided attention to the publishing industry." She added, "The new Bright Agency website will be totally dedicated to publishing so whether a
client is looking for fantasy, teen boys, or underwater pirates for the under 5’s, the nature of the site means that it can be found quickly—without having to trawl through hundreds of artists to get to it."
The agency is updating its website, which will be powered by Sparkle Box, an image sourcing tool. Sparkle Box will allow illustrative content to be exchanged between artists and clients. The type of technology is often used on photographic stock sites and will allow publishers to search, find and
commission illustrators from the agency's database.
Willden-Lebrecht said: "Sparkle Box is tremendously exciting as it is going to make life so much easier for everyone—it takes the labour out of searching for good illustrators. On top of that we have recently signed some big names and have fantastic talent coming up through our in-house Bright Academy. Our artists are behind an awful lot of the wonderful books currently being produced in publishing."
The Bright Agency was launched four years ago and has worked with a range of publishers such as Usborne, Bloomsbury and Hachette.
