Borders UK is to close three of its airport stores at the end of October after their leases expire.
Thirty members of staff at the Stansted airport landside and airside branches, and the Edinburgh airport shop are in consultation with Borders' head office about finding employment elsewhere in the company. The three stores total approximately 2,000 sq ft.
It leaves Borders with four remaining airport branches. There is one in Heathrow Terminals 2, 3 and 4 as well as another in Gatwick South. The retailer is close to signing a three year extension to the leases of those stores.
W H Smith is believed to be taking over the two Stansted stores once Borders' leases expire.
