Borders UK has appointed Julie Howkins as its new head of e-commerce. She joins from Gardners, where she was e-commerce manager since 2002. Her duties will include the launch and development of the new Borders transactional website, which is due to launch in the spring. She joins the company on 3rd March.
Borders UK c.e.o Philip Downer said: “The launch of Borders UK’s transactional website is one of our most important and exciting initiatives this year. I am delighted that Julie will be joining us, and sharing her exceptional experience of this key growth area, and I am looking forward to working with her and the e-commerce team.”
Howkins said: "We want the Borders website to enrich the on-line shopping experience, be content rich, community focussed and encourage Borders customers to shop in-store and on-line. With the publishing industry focus on digital content there is huge scope to create a fantastic on-line experience.”
