Kate Morris-Double and Libby Harris, who met working at the independent bookshop Mr B’s Emporium of Reading Delights, have launched a YA fiction book club.
Book Box Club is a monthly subscription box and online book group about young adult (YA) fiction. Each month subscribers will receive a YA book, a craft item based on a theme from that book and an invitation to the members-only online book group.
Morris-Double said she wanted to create a “vibrant” community to encourage young people to “fall in love with reading as unashamedly as we have”. The books may be about hard-hitting issues, so are recommended for readers aged 14 and over, she added.
The first Book Box Club parcels will be sent out in September and the first meeting will take place in October.
Subscribers can pay £27.99 for one month’s membership, £77 for three months or £150 for six months. Parcels can be sent all over the world although Morris-Double and Harris will charge for international postage.
Morris-Double, who is currently assistant manager at Mr B's Emporium of Reading Delights, was named as one of The Bookseller's Rising Stars in 2014. Harris left bookselling after five years at Mr B's and Foyles to write a YA novel.
