Organisers of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair have agreed to reinstate the fourth day of the fair, although this will be included on the last day of the fair, Friday, rather than the traditional Monday fair start-day. The 2010 fair will now run from Tuesday 23rd to Friday 26th March.
The bookfair organisers had wanted to cut the event to three days but the lack of consultation over the change led to an international outcry by exhibitors. Publishers in the UK, France, Switzerland, Australia and the US objected to the shortening of the fair. They argued for a return to four days, or a 25% cut in their exhibiting fees.
As well as reinstating the fourth day, the fair organisers have confirmed that the prices for the 2010 fair will not be increased.
