Bloomsbury Children’s Books is among publishers with Neil Gaiman titles lined up for 2013 publication, with publishing director Rebecca McNally acquiring UK and Commonwealth rights in Gaiman’s new children’s book, Fortunately, the Milk. Gaiman has created a video about the book is running on on sfx.co.uk.
Fortunately, the Milk will be illustrated by Chris Riddell. The book is the pair’s third collaboration. McNally signed the deal with Merrilee Heifetz and Angharad Kowal at Writers’ House, and called it “a brain-bogglingly brilliant cocktail of pitch-perfect ingredients”. The book is described as “a time-travelling adventure for young readers featuring aliens, dinosaurs, volcano gods and a pint of milk that saves the universe”. It will be published in hardback in September.
Coming from Bloomsbury Children’s in April will be Unnatural Creatures, a selection of “beastly” stories chosen and introduced by Gaiman which will also include a short story by the writer. A picture book by Gaiman, Chu’s Day, was released this month. Meanwhile, Headline will publish The Ocean at the End of the Lane for adult readers on 18th June.
