Signed copies of Tony Blair's memoir A Journey on sale at Waterstone's, Piccadilly sold out in just over an hour this morning, according to the publisher. The shop put 500 signed copies of the book on sale today (9th September) and had sold them all 75 minutes after opening, said Cornerstone publicist Ellie Rankine.
"The first person joined the queue at just after midnight, and by the time the store opened, there were a few hundred people queuing," she said.
Waterstone's flagship store had been due to hold a signing event with the former prime minister yesterday (8th September), but Blair cancelled the event after anti-war protestors targeted a signing in Dublin.
Some buyers are clearly viewing the signed copies as an investment, with bidding on eBay up to £150 for signed hardbacks and £795 for signed limited edition slipcased volumes.
