Hodder & Stoughton has hired Hannah Black, appointing her to the role of publisher of Hodder Entertainment.
The long-rumoured move sees Black join from HarperCollins, where she has been publishing director of non-fiction since last August. During her time at Harper, Black has signed the forthcoming memoirs of comedian David Mitchell, among others.
Previously, she was editorial director at Century, where she published many bestselling titles, including Dawn French’s autobiography Dear Fatty. At Hodder she will join her former boss Mark Booth, who left Random House to join Hodder last year.
Black will join Hodder & Stoughton on 1st May, reporting to director of non fiction Rowena Webb.
Webb said: "She has great acquiring skills and will be a brilliant addition to our non-fiction team which has already enjoyed two number one bestsellers this year. Hannah will take us from strength to strength."
Black added: "When Rowena first interviewed me for a job a few years ago, over breakfast, I catapulted my poached egg onto my lap from where it slowly but inevitably slid into my handbag. I didn't get the job. I'm glad she's given me another chance and really delighted to join her brilliant team at Hodder."
