BitTorrent sharer ordered to pay John Wiley $7,000
04.07.12 | Bookseller Staff
A New York federal court has ordered an individual who shared John Wiley's WordPress All-in-One For Dummies on BitTorrent to pay the publisher $7,000.
The man, identified as Robert Carpenter, was judged to be guilty of copyright and trademark infringement and ordered to compensate John Wiley in a default judgement, made because Carpenter failed to respond to the allegations, Torrent Freak reports.
In recent months Wiley is said to have filed more than a dozen BitTorrent mass lawsuits involving a few hundred defendants in total.
