Biteback gets Currie for second bite at memoirs

Biteback Publishing has acquired the second volume of diaries by former MP Edwina Currie, with m.d. Iain Dale saying it will have the same "wit, energy and indiscretion" as the first volume which revealed her affair with former prime minister John Major.

Dale bought world rights in the memoirs, which cover 1992-97, directly through Currie, with plans to publish the new volume in July this year. He also acquired e-book rights to all her novels, including A Parliamentary Affair, which it will be publishing as a Biteback Fiction classic in July in paperback to accompany the diaries, also snapping up e-book rights to the first volume of diaries, originally published by Sphere. The Dale said: "Edwina has led an extraordinary life in Parliament and beyond, as an author, broadcaster and celebrity. The diaries are shot through with her trademark wit, energy and indiscretion!"

Since losing her seat as a Conservative MP in 1997, Currie has appeared on "Strictly Come Dancing", "Wife Swap", and "Come Dine With Me", and is a regular commentator on current affairs programmes such as "Question Time", "Newsnight" and "Sky News".
