Biography of Edward Grey to Biteback
17.05.12 | Charlotte Williams
Biteback Publishing has acquired a biography of Edwardian foreign secretary Sir Edward Grey.
Editorial director Sam Carter bought UK and Commonwealth rights from Michael Sissons, senior consultant at PFD, in Edwardian Requiem, with plans to publish in 2013.
The politician was foreign secretary from 1905 to 1916, and is famous for his phrase: "The lamps are going out all over Europe; we shall not see them lit again in our lifetime", when the First World War broke out in 1914.
Carter said: "Michael Waterhouse has produced an elegant narrative describing the public and private lives of the longest-serving British Foreign Secretary of the 20th century."
