Former Waterstones m.d. Tim Coates plans to help campaigners re-open Kensal Rise Library by offering them a share of the income from his e-book lending service, Bilbary, the Evening Standard reports.
The Friends of Kensal Rise Library are hoping to re-open the library following its closure by Brent Council, and are currently putting together a business plan to present to the building’s owners, All Souls College, Oxford. So far, they have raised more than £34,000 of the £70,000 they need for their first year’s operating costs.
Bilbary will offer e-books for sale via the Kensal Rise Library's website, with a proportion of the income generated going to the library. Coates said he hoped "thousands of pounds" could be raised.
