Bloomsbury-owned Berg Publishers has signed an agreement with Oxford University Press for global distribution of its online resource The Berg Fashion Library, to be launched in May 2010.
Casper Grathwol, vice president and publisher of reference at OUP, said that OUP had seen how much interest there was in fashion through its publications Grove Art and Oxford Art Online, adding: "The Berg Fashion Library fills a real gap, not only for scholars and students of fashion and art but for a broad range of disciplines - anthropology, history, theatre studies, sociology, human geography, folklore."
Berg m.d. Kathryn Earle said that OUP's "unparalleled market penetration and knowledge of local territories throughout the world" made it a highly appropriate partner for the Fashion Library, which "aims to provide balanced coverage of dress throughout history and across cultures."
The Berg Fashion Library will be available on subscription from May 2010 and includes the Berg Encyclopedia of World Dress and Fashion online.
