Bartimaeus prequel from Stroud due in 2010
13.10.09 | Caroline Horn
Random House Children's Books has acquired UK and Commonwealth English language rights in a prequel by Jonathan Stroud to his bestselling Bartimaeus trilogy.
The prequel will follow Bartimaeus' adventures during his 5,000-year career as a djinn, and is out in autumn 2010.
Stroud said: "I thought it would be fun to do something with Bartimaeus again. I didn't want to write a sequel but to explore his past. In the trilogy he name-dropped all sorts of historical figures and places and we've never known if his accounts were true or not."
Sales for the trilogy in the UK have topped £2.1m, and it has sold into 37 countries.
