Baldacci, Meyer and Hocking join 'Kindle Million Club'

David Baldacci, Stephenie Meyer and the originally self-published author Amanda Hocking have all joined the Kindle Million Club, selling more than one million copies of their books on the Amazon.com Kindle Store.

They join 11 other authors in the "Club" - Stieg Larsson, James Patterson, Nora Roberts, Charlaine Harris, Lee Child, Michael Connelly and Kathryn Stockett, as well as Suzanne Collins, John Locke, Janet Evanovich and George R R Martin.

Hocking sold the majority of her one million Kindle books independently, using Kindle Direct Publishing, before Pan Macmillan signed her to a publishing contract in May.

Kindle Content v.p. Russ Grandinetti said: "It's exciting to see both long-time Amazon best-selling authors from the traditional publishing world and independently published authors join the club."

Baldacci, published by Macmillan, said: "E-books are leading the way in more people reading and it's great to be part of this revolution." Hocking thanked Amazon "for giving me a place to share my books."
