Romance and women's fiction publisher Avon Books has bought the rights for three "glamorous, commercial, multi-character blockbuster" novels by Jaishree Misra.
Keshini Naidoo, editor at the HarperCollins imprint, bought home and commonwealth rights from Judith Murdoch of the Judith Murdoch Literary Agency.
The Indian novelist will make her UK debut with Secrets and Lies, which will be published in June 2009.
Naidoo said the book is an, "aspirational, sexy read with a dark heart, set in Delhi and London." She will also be a guest speaker at the London Book Fair in April.
Misra has previously had six books published in India. Naidoo said: "I am particularly thrilled by this acquisition as I have been searching for accessible, entertaining fiction from ethnic writers with real crossover appeal."
