Avon has signed four more books by Jacqui Rose, whose debut was a bestseller in e-book format.
Caroline Hogg, commissioning editor at Avon, a division of HarperCollins that focuses on commercial women's fiction, acquired the UK and Commonwealth rights for the books in a deal with agent Judith Murdoch.
Rose's books are described as hard-hitting crime fiction, with a focus on issues that affect women, especially domestic abuse.
Her debut novel, Taken (Avon) topped the Kindle fiction chart and sold 80,000 copies in combined editions.
Her next book, Trapped, will be released in March 2013, with two books a year set to be released afterwards.
Hogg said: "I am so happy to have four more gripping, pull-no-punches books from Jacqui. She is adept at creating gritty worlds where the characters feel completely real."
