Author Miranda Dickinson has launched a video blog – or vlog – charting the creation of her latest novel.
It Started With A Kiss is due to be published in November 2011 by Avon, and Dickinson plans to post weekly">http://coffeeandroses.blogspot.com/2011/01/year-in-life.html">weekly video updates charting the book in each stage of the publishing process, from first draft to first sales figures.
Dickinson said: “The idea is to show what it's like to take an idea through all the editing and proofing stages to published novel and beyond, into waiting for sales figures and promotional stuff. I'm hoping it will spark people's interest and involve them with the new book long before it hits the shelves.”
Digital producer at HarperCollins, Laura Goss, said: “Miranda’s new vlog is a fantastic idea, and characteristic of the way she has embraced and harnessed all kinds of online tools to promote and create her work.“
Dickinson was signed on a two-book deal by Avon after her work was discovered on HarperCollins’ Authonomy blog in 2008, which allows writers to publish their work online to be read and rated by the public. Her first novel, Fairy Tale of New York, was published in 2009, with her second, Welcome To My World, published in November 2010.
