Avon acquires erotica title about 'saucy' reading group
15.10.12 | Joshua Farrington
HarperCollins imprint Avon has snapped up a new pseudonymous novel in the wake of Fifty Shades, following a group of women entering the world of literary erotica.
Sammia Rafique bought UK and Commonwealth rights, including translation, for The Naughty Girls Book Group, from Madeleine Milburn at the Madeleine Milburn Literary Agency.
According to Milburn, the book is being published under a pseudonym by a writer who is already published by HarperCollins.
Rafique said: "Following the Fifty Shades phenomenon and the fact that all the women we know are now talking about erotica non-stop, The Naughty Girls Book Group is a book group where erotica is the only thing on the reading list. We know reading groups have always been a popular subject for novels and this puts a saucy spin on it."
The e-book edition of the book will be released in early spring 2013, with the paperback following in June.
