Author resource The Writing Platform has received financial investment from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) for 2014, while Bath Spa University has also extended its support for the platform.
Set up by The Literary Platform in 2012, The Writing Platform includes a website, bursary scheme and live events programme dedicated to helping writers understand their creative and career options in the digital age.
The Writing Platform co-founder Joanna Ellis described the developments as "a real vote of confidence in the work we are doing", saying: "These partnerships allow us to expand the resources we offer writers and develop our work in different territories, it’s an honour to be working with two such forward thinking institutions.”
Donna Hancox, senior lecturer of creative writing and literary studies at QUT, will take up the role of Australian project editor at The Writing Platform, commissioning content from Australian writers and thought leaders in digital writing and publishing. Professor Helen Klaebe of QUT, said: “We are looking forward to combining our research skills and creative networks with the expertise of The Writing Platform to deliver innovative content and spark discussion from the Asia Pacific region.”
Bath Spa University’s support for 2014 includes additional investment in editorial content and the bursary scheme. The institution will once again collaborate with The Writing Plaform on the MIX: Text on Screens conference in 2014.
