The leaders of Britain's most prominent cultural bodies are to appeal directly to the prime minister not to cause irreparable damage to the arts, reports BBC News. Arts Council England will join organisations like the National Theatre and Tate to make the appeal later.
Culture minister Ed Vaizey has said everybody has to take their share of cuts. Vaizey said organisations were "absolutely entitled" to make their case to government but "everybody had to share their burden of the cuts that were coming".
