Simon & Schuster UK is publishing a memoir by action movie legend and former governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Provisionally entitled Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story, the book is scheduled for publication in October 2012. Simon & Schuster US has world rights and will publish in United States, Australia, Canada, India, and the United Kingdom. The publisher said: "Considered one of the most anticipated autobiographies of this generation, Schwarzenegger presents a larger-than-life portrait of his illustrious, controversial and ever-entertaining life in and out of the public eye." German rights have been sold to Hoffmann und Campe and Dutch rights to A W Bruna. The publisher will sell foreign rights at Frankfurt Book Fair.
Jonathan Karp, S&S publisher, said: "Truly, Arnold is one of the most fascinating figures of our time, and one of the greatest success stories in the world. Nobody has a life story even close to his. To go from poor immigrant to world class athlete to the biggest movie star in the world to governor of California is an incredible journey."
Mike Jones, non-fiction editorial director at S&S UK, added: "The story of how Arnold Schwarzenegger became one of the most recognisable film stars in the world, and then how he became a US politician of such importance, will be a great read. We are all hugely looking forward to working with him on the book."
